Welcome to Portsmouth College Adult and Continuing Education

We are delighted that you are considering taking up one of our Adult and Continuing Education courses. For more information on a course, and the opportunity to enrol online, please choose from one of the above subject areas.

Community Courses

These are generally short courses and start at the beginning of each term (September, January and April), covering areas such as Languages, Music, Art, Fitness and Cookery. For all of these courses, you will need to pay a fee when you enrol on the course. Online enrolment for these courses closes 1 week before the course starts.

Qualification Courses

These lead to a formally recognised qualification (e.g. GCSE English) and are generally one year in duration, starting in September. There is the opportunity to start on a small number of qualification courses in January.

Applications for qualification courses starting in September have now closed. Additional courses in some subject areas (particularly English and Maths) will be starting in January. Please check back in late November if you would like to enrol on one of these courses.

Important note regarding fees:
  • Where a fee is listed as TBA, this is a formal qualification and the fee due will depend on a range of factors including your age, current qualifications that you hold and employment status. When you apply to join one of these courses, we will invite you to attend an interview and the fees due will be assessed at this point.
  • For English and Maths courses, no fee is payable where you do not already have a GCSE grade C / grade 4 (or equivalent) in the relevant subject. For Level 3 and 4 courses, fees can also be paid via an Advanced Learner Loan.
